Us ...
If not
Then who?
So many ask why we work
so hard to save so few ... the broken legs, the parvo pups, the neglected
and abused? Our answer -- if not us, then who would help dogs
like:
Butch: We were the only ones willing
to help this little teacup chihuahua when it was taken to the vet's
after a vicious attack. A few months and a couple of hundred
dollars later, he was ready for his new home.
Clanton:
This sweet dog was passed over at the shelter by other rescues in
lieu of "adoptable dogs" because he had a broken hip. His two
new little boys who play soccer with him sure are happy we didn't
leave him there to die.
Elocon: At only 4 months old, hurt both emotionally
and physically, this dog had been so severely abused he was afraid
of the world. Slated for euthanasia, our volunteers bailed him
out of the pound and gave him the love and care he so deserved.
Elocon now is the picture of health and love in his new home.
Rocco: This
little min pin was taken into the vet's with a busted leg. Two
other rescues were contacted, but they either didn't respond to the
vet's request for help or refused to accept him. From the Heart
paid to have his leg fixed and provided rehabilitative care while
he looked for his new forever home. His new family sure is glad
we did!
Zipper Some cruel person attempted to
dock Zipper, and his sister Snaps', tail by putting a rubber band
around it. Infected and maggot infested, the pups were
left in a box. From The Heart had the tails surgically removed,
treated the infections, and found wonderful loving homes for them.
These are only a few of the animals
From The Heart has been called upon to help in the past. Each
one came to us abandoned by their owner, rejected by other rescues,
and in need of love and care. Our volunteers have dug into their
own pockets when necessary to cover the veterinary bills, the food
bills, or other necessities for the animals. The only repayment
they ask is the knowledge that the animal will be able to go on to
live a happy and wonderful life in a new forever home.
So, why
do we do what we do ... because no one else can or will. It
was best summed up by an adopter's letter found here.. From
the Heart truly believes it is our duty to share the gifts we have
been given with those that have no other place to turn and no other
chance of survival.
