Gemma

Hi! My Name Is Gemma

We're happy to tell you that Gemma has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

This sweet girl was found sleeping in a pile of trash in an area known for people dumping trash. One of wonderful rescue partners was able to gain her trust with food and brought her home. It was discovered that she had a microchip! (YAY) But the phone number didn't work. And then her story got sadder.

Upon searching the information on the microchip, it was discovered that her owner, that she had lived with since being a puppy, had recently passed away. After searching for local relatives listed in the obituary, it was discovered that Gemma had been given away and this was the second time she had gotten loose. So, since the family was still the legal owners, they surrendered her so she could find a wonderful home to spend her golden years.

Gemma will need a home willing to allow her to come out of her shell at her own pace. We know this can be hard because of course you want to be able to hug and snuggle your newest family member, but some pups just need to be left alone for a while to realize they are in a safe space and their new people aren't going anywhere. She would like another pup to play with. But an older one. She is still playful, but it comes in spurts with long rests in between. She just doesn't have the energy or patience for puppy play. Gemma will need a home with a secure backyard. As she is known to wander if she gets bored. A 6-foot solid wall/fence is required, no chain-link. Because of needing a calm home, we recommend no young children. Their energy and enthusiasm are too much for her.

Gemma is spayed, UTD on vaccines and microchipped.
