Honey Belle was surrendered to the shelter when her owner went into hospice care. As you can see from her pictures, she had been neglected for some time. When the shelter called to see if we had space, one of our foster homes didn't hesitate to open their hearts to this sweet girl.
First order of business was to get her all cleaned up. We weren't sure what was under all that fur. Unfortunately, her fur was so matted, we had to take her down to the skin. But she feels SO much better. And she looks great in sweaters!
She has all the old age problems you expect with a dog this age- hearing loss, cataracts, arthritis. She is in desperate need of a dental cleaning. We'll have that done once she settles in and puts on some weight.
For now she spends most of her day sleeping. She gets a few hours of sunshine everyday when the weather is nice and she seems to enjoy sniffing around the backyard.
