As you can tell Kidd needs our help. He was picked up as a stray and taken to the shelter. He has suffered an eye injury and the eyeball has ruptured, requiring removal. Technically, Kidd was still looking for his owners on a stray hold at the shelter but when the shelter reached out, we couldn't leave him in pain.
So, Kidd was brought to the vet to get help for his eye but his day got worse. As soon as they put him in a kennel, he started having bloody diarrhea- Parvo positive!
While the pictures make him look bigger, Kidd is just over 5 pounds so his fight against parvo is going to be a hard one. Our fingers are crossed that since he was at the vet and able to begin treatment right away, we will be one step ahead of this awful virus. But prayers and good thoughts for this little guy are welcomed.
While we were ready for surgery to remove his eye, we had not budgeted for parvo treatment. If you can help by donating toward Kidd's treatment, every dollar is appreciated and goes directly to the care of the dogs.
UPDATE: Kidd made it through parvo treatment. We were lucky we caught it early. Because he is so small even a couple days of diarrhea would have left him severely dehydrated. This is why we rescuers stress about getting your puppies vaccinated. Kidd was hospitalized with IV fluids and meds for 3 days in order to give him the best chance at surviving. Please get your pets vaccinated!
Now he goes to get neutered and have his eye removed.
