Hi - my name is Murphy - and I'm a dog fostered in Anthony - TX!
I came to rescue after I was dumped at animal control. Someone wearing all black and a bandana covering their face tapped on the window at animal services and left me in a crate by the front door. The shelter staff ran outside to stop the person to get more information - but they ran away and drove off in a car before anyone could stop them.
Once inside the shelter - the staff there removed me from the crate and found a horrendous injury to my back foot. My entire foot had rotted off - leaving exposed toe bones. It was beyond the shelter's capacity to treat so they began networking with rescues in an attempt to save my life.
Luckily for me - From The Heart had an amazing volunteer who offered to open his home so that I could be rescued. I went to the vet so we could determine a course of treatment for me.
While at the vet - I was examined and it was determined that something had been tied around my foot which had cut off the circulation. My foot died and eventually sloughed off - leaving exposed bone. This does not happen overnight - and it was excruciating. At some point during my suffering - the nerves died which meant I could no longer feel anything. My leg was well passed the point of saving. X-rays were taken which revealed no broken bones - which means this is not an injury from being hit by a car. My belly was full of sand which means that I ate anything and everything in an attempt to stave off hunger pains. I have survived a literal living hell.
I am currently learning how to be a spoiled house dog in foster care. adoptioni have fully recovered and I am ready for a loving family that will give me the royal treatment for the rest of my life!
Think we could be a match? Fill out an adoption application and a volunteer will be in touch with you about meeting me.
