Twinkie was found running after a car that was behind a building were cars are not allowed to be. When she couldn't catch the car she ran into the desert. A couple of good Samaritans spent the whole day slowly following her to make sure she wasn't lost out there alone. Finally after several hours she collapsed under a mesquite bush exhausted from the heat.
Once she was caught, it was discovered see had an eye injury. We think this is why she was dumped. But just incase the person who dumped her wasn't her owner, a found dog post was made. No one came forward as the owners and she wasn't microchipped.
We took Twinkie to the vet and learned her eye needed to be removed. Thankfully, dogs recover from such a surgery much faster than humans. She is already zipping around like nothing happened.
Twinkie is around 8 months old and housetrained. She is a busy, busy bee and will need another dog to play with, maybe 3. When she does take a moment to herself, she likes to be touching her person, usually sitting on their foot.
Twinkie still has some vetting to complete and then she will be ready for adoption. Keep an eye on her status.
